ECCLESIASTICAL DIVISIONS

The Archdiocese is divided in five deanaries. In charge of each deanery is a parish priest from that deanery chosen by the priest members of the deanery. The deanaries are also used to divide lay organisations like the Laity Council.

The five deaneries are as follows:

St. Joseph Deanery: The Dean is Rev. Fr. Andrew Komba this includes the following Parishes St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Chango’mbe, Mburahati, Magomeni, Msimbazi, Upanga, Vingunguti, and Mafia.

Ubungo Deanery: The Dean is Very Rev. Fr. Msgr. Deogratias Mbiku

It includes Ubungo parish, Chuo Kikuu parish, Manzese Parish, Kibaha parish, Mlandizi Parish, Makuburi Parish, Mbezi Luis parish Kibangu Parish Luhanga, Kimara Pirish, Mkuza Parish, and Mavurunza Parish.

Kunduchi Deanry: The Dean is Rev. Fr. Jovin Bakekera

It includes Mtongani parish, Tegeta parish, Kawe parish, Mwenge parish, Sinza parish, Mwananyamala parish, Hananasif parish, and St. Peter parish – Oysterbay, Mama wa Huruma Parish, and Salasala Parish and Boko Parish.

Ukonga Deanery: The dean is Rev. Fr. Camillus Neuray

It includes Ukonga parish, Yombo parish, Segerea parish, Kipawa Parish, Pugu parish and Kisarawe Parish, Dovya, and Tabata.

Kigamboni Deanery: The Dean is Fr Luciano Scaccia.

It includes Kigamboni parish, Kurasini parish, Mbagala parish, Mtoni Parish, Mkuranga parish, Kilimahewa parish and Kibiti parish, Vikindu Parish and Kijichi Parish.

Presently therefore there are 48 parishes in the Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam. They are still too few for the Catholic population of the Archdiocese.
